God's people united in sharing the Good News of
Jesus
Backpackers is a Christian adventure for primary
school children, organised and run by ordinary people from all the Christian
churches in Chesham so that children can have a great time while learning about
Jesus and what it means to be a Christian.
It is also great fun for the helpers and gives a
tremendous sense of UNITY and FELLOWSHIP as well as giving an important WITNESS
to our town.
Backpackers traditionally runs for four days during
the first week of the school summer holidays: Tuesday to Friday late July, from
9.15am – 4.00pm for helpers. It is a daily club, not an overnight camp. In 2008
Backpackers will run from
Tuesday 29th - Friday 1st August 2008.
Backpackers is held in the grounds of Thomas Harding
school and can accommodate about 300 children – provided there are enough
helpers!
Helpers with children under 5 can safely leave them
each day in the excellent crèche if no other provision can be made. Here the
children (called “minipackers”!) have their own organised activities with
excellent resources.
2008 is the 18th year of Backpackers!
